Buck Out Cleveland (BOC) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization, dedicated to bridging the gap between Northeast Ohio youth, and education at Historically Black Colleges and Universities. As a nonprofit entity, we are obligated to continuously maintain a consistent and active Board of Directors. Successful nonprofits have a Board of Directors made up of strong leaders—people who have a passion for the organization’s mission and know how to get things done.
We are currently in need of individuals with a vested interest in the following areas to apply to join our Board of Directors :

What's Expected
The Board of Directors will set the foundation for how BOC will operate and play a pivotal role in the success of the organization. The most important decisions we make will be made by the board members. Strategizing how to achieve goals, ensuring financial stability, and getting support for the organization are all major responsibilities of the board.

- Ensuring BOC's activities are supporting the purpose and mission of the organization
- Selecting and hiring leadership faculty and supporting the Executive Director while evaluating their performance
- Ensuring and managing effective organizational planning and access to adequate resources
- Determining and monitoring BOC’s programs and services
- Enhancing BOC’s public image
Responsibilities of an Individual Board Member
- Attend all board meetings and activities, including special events and board retreats
- Become knowledgeable about BOC and its impact, and serve as an ambassador for the organization's mission
- Come to board meetings well-prepared and well-informed about issues on the agenda, and contribute to meetings by expressing your informed perspective
- Consider other points of view, make constructive suggestions and help the the board makes decisions that benefit those the organization serves
- Serve on at least one committee
- Represent your organization to individuals, the public, and other organizations
- Support the organization with a personal financial contribution and increase BOC's access to funds
- Assume board leadership roles when asked
- Keep the administrator informed about any concerns of the community
